Where'd you go... I miss you so...

Seems like it's been forever since you've been gone.

Man, it's been awhile since I posted. I need to keep in the habit. Writing is good for the mind and soul.

Of course not much has been going on. Typical routine. Wake up. Go to work. Work. Come home from work. Make dinner. Clean up. Wash kids. Tuck them in bed.

Of course there are always the nice moments in the day. Like having your 3 1/2 year old climb in bed at 5:30am and snuggle with you. Or waking up to a childs smile asking "Can we get doughnuts?"

And I'm getting addicted to going out walking at lunch. Those are nice moments away from the ho-hum day. I got in 4 days this week and 3 last. Been doing well. Not sure I can average more than 4 days a week. Either errands to run or lunch with the boys will always come up. I've been throwing some jogs into my walks. Walking sometimes is too boring. Maybe relaxing. But boring.

I about cried the other day. On Monday after my walk my MP3 batteries were about dead so I went to change them. New batteries. Player wouldn't turn on. :( UGH! So I messed with. And messed with it. Nothing. So I try new batteries. And mess with it. And mess with it. Was getting frustrated. Going walking isn't the same without my MP3 player. But this morning I tried changing the batteries one more time. And WHOA! It worked.

We have tried to hit the pool a couple times this week but the rain is killing us. Sunday we went swimming for about an hour before the rain cut it short. Then on Monday we went and only got to swim for a little until a rain storm came through. Ditto on Tuesday. Wednesday it let up and allowed us to hit Mara's tee-ball game. That was nice. It is nice to get out more. We tend to be homebodies sometime and need to get out and socialize more.

OH! I got a pressure washer for Father's Day. Which was cool. I've been wanting one. Especially since our water pressure at the house it horrible. With the bad weather I've only got it out once but hopefully I'll get to play with it this weekend.

I just got majorly psyched this morning. And then the air let out. I got an email from Ticketmaster that said there was a Kenny Chesney concert in Indy on Sept 3. I had written down in my calendar that Aunt Kasara's wedding was Sept 2. So Kelly would be off work that weekend. We could head up to Indy and I could surprise her with one of her favorite country music singers. But who to watch the girls. I thought about KJ's cousin. But she would probably have Labor Day Weekend plans. Then I remembered. My mom would be back from Florida. Sweet. I give her a call and propose the plot. She says no problem. Sweet. So I'm looking at more info on the web about the concert. And then I call Kelly to make sure she doesn't have plans for the remained or that weekend. That's when she reminds me that she had Labor Day weekend off but had to trade her weekend for the 16th... which is the wedding. DOH! Man, and I do love surprising KJ. :(

I need to and another website to my Top 5. Wikipedia. I love reading about history and geography. And from wiki I can read one topic and hot link to another and another and another. Love it.

Something else I had been doing that is fun but I don't have much time for is hitting the "Next Blog" button at the top of the page. That is too cool. Reading some random websites. I read one about a lady in England who had some kind of terminal problem and was having to move back in with her parents. Another was a lady in Iraq who was very forethright about what is going over there. Bashing the US. Bashing the Iraqis. Telling it like it is. Both were very depressing. But very interesing. And reading things like that sure can make you appreciate what you have.

OH OH OH!!! I finally finished a book. It only took me 6 weeks. Not bad, eh? :) My other two books couldn't be renewed (only allowed twice). So I got two other ones. We'll see how we do with these. Now I've got one book done, and only about 20 more to catch up with KJ. lol

Not much planned for this weekend. Hopefully alot of swimming. And if I get real ambitions I'll clean out my garage and organize it.

Next week the WSOP starts. I'm running a homemade "Fantasy League". Because I'm a geek. And it's fun. 14 team. 3 payouts. Wish me luck.

Have a great weekend!

My Top 5...

Songs currently on my MP3 Player

1. Rascal Flatts Life is a Highway - We just saw Cars last week. This is one of the few songs that the remake is even better than the original.
2. Fort Minor Where'd You Go - This song has a great beat. Intense lyrics. And a nice blend of rap with a beautiful melodic voice.
3. Hannah Montana Best of Both Worlds - It's really sad I get into these kids songs. But this one has a ton of energy. Great for walking. And if you listen to Miley Cyrus... she sounds more like a mature country singer than a kid. Maybe the next Lee Anne Rymes.
4. Neal McCoy Billy's Got His Beer Goggles On - This is just a fun song that gets me pumped while I am walking.
5. Anne Hatheway Don't Go Breaking My Heart - I admitted to KJ that I've been crushing on Anne. (I sure like my Annes!) But what do you expect... the girls have like 3 movies with her.
6. Bon Jovi Who Says You Can't Go Home Yeah... big deal. So I put 6 on here.

Flat tire, the park, KY Lake, Sewer, and Walking

The week started off rough as last Monday Kelly got a flat on the van. Luckily she caught me in time before I went out for lunch. It was a real pain as the spare would not come off. And with wanting to get rid of it in a couple months, I wasn't wanting to put much money in it. But dealing with the flat wasn't as bad as dealing with Kelly. She doesn't handle stress well. And when bad things happen she usually gets all P.O.ed. It's her M.O. But things turned out well.

Wednesday night Kelly went out to the movies. Hit The Omen. On 6/6/06. She hates to be scared ... and loves doing it. I think it is like those people who cut themselves and enjoy it. Or pick their fingers until they bleed. Yeah, those type.

Everytime Momma goes to the movies it is PARTY TIME for the kids. Usually we stay up late and build a couch fort in the living room and eat junk food and drink milk shakes. I mean come on, what are dads for? But since this was a week-night we opted for McDonald's to-go and the Red Park. (That's the Jasper Jaycee park. Kelly has never been a fan of our color-coding system for the parks in the area.) Afterwards we went home, had some icecream and I let them put in a movie and skip the baths for the night.

Thursday Kelly took the girls to Kentucky Lake. I was going to head down on Friday. So I had an entire evening to myself. So what do I do? Mow the grass that really needed it? Clean up the garge that I have been promising for weeks? Pack up for the weekend trip? Oh no, I get out my Horse Racing program for this weekends Belmont races and do some analysis on the races ... while playing online poker. I am so bad. But on the bright side... I made some good picks. I didn't make much money. But probably has to do with me being a tight-@$$ and only making 20 cent bets. Hey... I'm still learning this horse betting thing. I can't drop all my hard earned poker money on it.

Well I went to bed at 1:30am... without the bags packed. So I am up at 6am getting everything done. And you know what... packing really isn't that hard (unless you have to worry about 3 little girls). I got it all done and got a cooler packed too and was at work by 7am. 11:15 and I was out of there to meet up with Kelly's dad so I wouldn't have to drive the whole way down.

Kentucky Lake rocked! It was such awesome weather. I heard it was just a little cool up in Celestine. And I know we got some rain up here on Sunday. But at the Lake it was awesome. Even a bit on the hot side. Swimming off the dock at sunset rules. Saturday we went out boating and hit a sandbar. They had a rope swing out there. That was cool. I couldn't beleive how brave the girls were to go off of it. They had to climb up a tree and get about 8 feet above the water. And the steps were just some short pieces of 2x4 nailed to the side of the tree that was leaning out into the water. I even went off it twice. Pretty damn fun except when that rope curls around you when you let go.

That evening the girls learned to knee-board. Last year Mara and McKenna were scared to do it. This time I don't think they even hesitated. They were even fighting over who got to go first. I think Aunt Kasara did a great job of getting them "pumped up" for it. And Grandpa Shane is a very good teacher. McKenna and Micah got up on their first tries. But Mara struggled a little. After the first couple tries I was afraid she was going to be too tired. But Grandpa and Kasara kept working with her and she got up. Not only that, but she wanted to keep going. That was a great sign.

Sunday morning had us doing a little more knee-boarding before lunch. The girls would have kept going all afternoon but we needed to start packing up. I know they will be psyched to go to the Lake and do it again.

Trip back home wasn't bad. I thought the girls would crash 10 miles down the road... but noooooo. They were as talkative as ever. Finally after about an hour they did crash. And thank the heavens as after a weekend like that some peace and quiet was needed. After a quick dinner and some baths the girls were about ready for bed when the door bell rang. The neighbor was asking if we knew our Sewer alarm was going off? Uh ... no. We have concrete walls. You can't hear a thing from them. But going outside it was pretty loud. I bet that made the neighbors happy. Well we got it turned off. And of course. You know Kelly's M.O. ... Suffice it to say she wasn't happy. Me. I slept fine. Kelly called this morning. Looks like everything will be taken care of. Free of charge. Not worth worrying about things any sooner than you have to.

Last week only allowed me 2 days to go walking. Monday was Kelly's flat, Thursday it rained, and Friday I left work early. But I'm back on the horse as I went out this afternoon. It was funny, after I got back I was walking around getting my lunch warmed up in the breakroom. And my legs had the post-roller-skating feel to them. You know what I mean? You know where it feels like you still have the skates on and are still skating. That is what I felt like heating my lunch up. Felt like I was still walking. And then it occured to me. I wonder if that is what birds feel like. Flying all day. Down to get a worm. Looks over at his bird-friend, "Dude, it feels like I'm still flying." Yeah, I think I'll end on that note.

Top 5 for today??? I'm gonna have to give you and IOU. I'm running late for a meeting.

Walking, Cookies, Swimming, Birthday Party, Sheephead, and more Swimming

Not a very productive weekend. Or week for that matter.

Last Wendesday Kelly's parents, sister, and soon to be brother-in-law came over from Mt. Carmel to watch Mara play in her 2nd Tee-ball game. Mara was excited having everyone come to see her. Afterwards we went out to eat at the local sports bar/restaurant. It was empty. Granted it was 8pm. They were slow. As to be expected. But the service wasn't good. And the food was okay. But wasn't great. (Mine in particular was rather bland.) I think we need to find a new restaurant. I'm tempted to try the "seedy-bar" across the street. Hey, some of those places have the best food. Kelly's parents have taken us to several of those rough-in-the-middle-of-nowhere places where the food is just awesome. So you never know.

Been trying to walk at lunch. Normally I spend the hour reading on the internet or such. Walked twice last week (the other two days we had rain) and today. So I wouldn't call it a routine just yet. But the nice thing is I really enjoy it. And I don't just take a leisurely stroll. I go for the power walk (which in my opinion, if I was someone watching me, would think looked gay) to make it worth my while. I don't know if it is good or not but I've done about 2 miles in 30 minutes each time. Any more than that and I'm gonna have to start jogging. But to be honest, the walk is awesome. Nice paved trail along the river here. In and out of woods with plenty of shade to keep you cool. And jamming to MP3s.

Friday night was "party night". Uusally "party night" is when Momma goes out to eat or to the movies with some of her girlfriends. But Kelly has been slacking on her social duties and the girls hadn't had a "party night" in awhile. So we made cookies, the girls watched a movie, and we popped popcorn. Unfortunately since Momma didn't go out, we didn't tear up the living room with couch-cushion forts.

Saturday we did some running around. I had to return the tent we borrowed. Plus take a truck load of cardboard to the recycling center. That afternoon we headed out to the pool. Those girls could swim everyday. However this day it was quite chilly. I think the storms from the past week cooled things down. McKenna was shivering after a while with purple lips. And I was getting cold too. So we sat out after less than an hour.

Sunday the girls wanted to go outside and play. Apparently the neighbor girl was out so they went to play at her house. 20 minutes later her dad calls and asks if we want to come over for lunch and a birthday party. The girls loved that. Birthday cake and ice cream was very good. While the kids played, I got my first real introduction to Sheephead. I've got the rules down (I think) but it is hard to say as it seems different people play by different rules. I definately need more practice.

Afterwards, the girls begged to go swimming again. So after having them pick up the house a little we went back to the pool. I don't think the water was much better but they all 3 swam the whole time. I sat out with a headache. I did some reading while the swam. I'm halfway through my book. Only 3 weeks and I'm half way. I think I may finish a book this year. Oh, I've started a half-dozen... but I've yet to finish one.

This Thursday Kelly and the girls head to Kentucky Lake with Grandma Kathy and Aunt Kasara. I'll head down on Friday with Grandpa Shane and Uncle Donnie. Kelly's folks have a great place down there. Girls love it. And it is just very peaceful and relaxing. Definately looking forward to it. Who knows, I may even finish my book.

My Top 5 ...

...Hottest Disney Princesses
1. Belle - She is the "girl next door". Down to earth. Smart. Pretty. Doesn't have an easy life. But there is something about her. Maybe the fact that she plays "hard to get."
2. Jasmine - Jasmine is probably the sexisest. She's got the monster hair and the kickin' curves. And she's rich.
3. Cinderella - Cinderella is another with a rough life. She wins the prize for that. She's attractive. Just not sexy. But what do you expect from a movie from 1950.
4. Aurora - She's the standoffish hottie. You all know the type. She looks and acts like she is better than everyone else. Oh, she might not think that. But that is how she appears. She also gets low marks for her constitution. I mean come on, one finger prick and she's out.
5. Ariel - Ok, Ariel is hot. And half naked. But she looks 16 so its really hard to put her in the "hottie" catagory.
